Talos Flexi Track Hook

Published:
1.9K Views

Description

The last of Talos' 'tricks' is the Flexi Track equipped grappling hook on it's back. Utilizing the same components as The Basilisk frame, Talos' hook is capable of stretching to truly incredible lengths without sacraficing strength or durability. The hook is one of it's most useful components, allowing Talos to recover it's sword if it's ever seperated from it, or to pull an opponent into sword range. But it's usually used to launch devastating surprise attacks against an opponent.

this is difficult for me because i don't have any experience in animation, though i have always wanted to be an animator, and i feel that if nothing else, i can probably point our the strengths and weaknesses of the movement.

i think the first thing i noticed was the left hand, which seems to turn the wrong way. this might be just my opinion, but it seems to me like it would be a lot more natural to curl in rather than turn out.

the next biggest issue issue that makes this seem way too rigid is the left knee. if you think about the movement in your head, you want him to move forward quickly because he's making a striking motion, but if you track his progress forward, he kind of falls forward rather than pushing forward, and that makes the movement feel weak when you see it. as soon as his left hand comes off that sword his left knee should bend down putting him in a good position to spring forward. the final pose looks like it's where it should be, but you need to put that power into the movement. make him come low with his weight forward, then extend the left leg. it will be very fluid and should make the motion a lot more powerful.

the last thing i would suggest is to make the sword swing back farther when he comes down. it's actually good that he has it because it looks like it has a lot of weight to it. considering the force of the hook coming forward, it makes sense to have him swinging his sword back hard to counter it. it might even make sense to do the same thing with the other arm so that they make a kind of flying V at the peak of the hook's movement, with the sword parallel to the arm. that's a stylistic choice ofcourse! ^_^

i have no real comment about the design other than the fact that it's pretty sweet. it seems a bit strange that the feet aren't attached to the main body, but I'm sure there's a reason for it!

i hope i've been more of a help than a hindrance. can't wait to see more!
